Waste
Our wastemanagement proceduresmeasurably improved
in2013 and continued todo so in 2014. At PANDORA,
waste is seen as a resource. In 2014, 81% of the total waste
produced by our crafting facilities inThailandwas reused or
recycled, an increase of 24% compared to 2013.
The crafting of our jewellery generates threemain types of
processwaste: glass, rubber and gypsum. The gypsum de-
rives from the jewellery casting process, the glass from the
making of ourMurano charms and the rubber frommoulds.
In2014 an impressive 100%ofMurano glasswastewas
recycled as glass tiles and 100% of our rubber wastewas
used as an alternative fuel source in the cement industry.
An average of 90% of waste gypsumwas recycled in the
construction sector, reaching 100% inNovember.
It is a great pleasure to see our waste being transformed
intouseful products. The benefits are twofold aswe
optimise the use of resources and considerably reduce our
ownwaste.
In2014, ourThai facilitieswere recognised for this
impressive achievement withinwastemanagement by
theThaiMinistry of Industry. The “3Rs” (Reduce, Reuse,
Recycle) awardwas given as a recognition of goodpractice
in resource management.
