HUMANAND LABOURRIGHTS
The PANDORA Ethics Programme instructs us all toprevent
– and if necessarymitigate and remedy – negative impacts
of our activities.
We regularly assess potential human and labour rights
risks in our value chain. These assessments – carried out
internally or in cooperationwith external experts andpeers
– tend to reach the same conclusion: PANDORA’smain
human and labour rights risks (aswell as environmental
risks) are to be found in our supply chain. By sourcing
our core jewellerymaterials from certified responsible
suppliers, we seek to lower the risks of becoming complicit
inhuman rights infringements. Further, PANDORA’s
Responsible Supplier Programme (described under
PRODUCT) is also designed to prevent us from becoming
complicit in such infringements.
An ongoing challenge during PANDORA’s continued
growthhas been to keep the amount of overtime in
Thailandbelow a 60-hour workingweek (overtime at PPT is
always voluntary, compliant withThai law and remunerated
at premium rates).
Again in 2015, due to exceptional business
circumstances caused by our 40% growth, weeklyworking
hours in some specialised departments periodically
exceeded60 hours per week. Inorder tomitigate overtime
and to ensure capacity for future growth, we hired3,250
additional craftspeople in 2015 and also took steps to
expandour existing crafting facilities.
