FOCUSONTHAILAND
Ourmodern crafting facilities inThailand provide safe,
developing and engagingworking conditions for 11,150
craftspeople.Their skills, their sense of aesthetics and the
way they bring their hearts andminds towork every day are
a part of the foundation of our company’s vision to become
theworld’smost loved jewellery brand.
Training anddevelopment
PANDORAProductionThailand (PPT) has built its success
on the philosophy that clarity, competence, confidence and
commitment are four key, interdependent pillars essential
to long-term success.
We regard all our craftspeople as ‘knowledgeworkers’
and this is an integral part of our approach to training and
onboarding new staff. When our people have clarity of
their roles, the competence tomaster their craft, the ability
to think outside the box, and, finally, the confidence and
channels to express their ideas and concerns, the result is
the fourth “C”: a deep commitment to theworkplace. We
believe, that this approach is part of the reasonwhy PPT
continues to be an employer of choicewith a 2015 staff
turnover rate of only 3.3%.
We invest significantly in training anddevelopment,
which spans technical skills, safety, health, the
environment, business continuity, leadership and life
skills. All training activities aim to further advance a safe
and rewarding environment for our craftspeople, and to
demonstrate our responsible practices as an employer and
an important member of the local community.
Health and safety
At PPT, we operate an effective Safety, Health&
Environment (SHE) Committee comprisedof senior
management and employee representatives.The 15
employee representatives are offeredmodern, on-site
facilities and receive comprehensive training, both in-house
and from external experts, enabling them to effectively
contribute in their roles.
Tomake safety a priority from the start, SHE experts are
involved in all new crafting processes. SinceMay 2015,
safety and health training has been a permanent part of our
onboarding programme. In 2015, a total of 2,500people
participated in training sessions in general health& safety
andfirefighting. SHE efforts includedTV and radio spots on
internal channels, and a competition for employees towin
prizes for suggestions for further improvements.
Accidents
In accordancewith international standards PANDORA
defines accidents as any incident that leads to an employee
having to be absent for eight hours ormore. The entire
PANDORA grouphad 31 accidents in total resulting in
168 lost working days.
At PPTour definition of accidents also includes
incidents, whichdo not lead to any lost working days as
the employee is instead reassigned to another position.
In 2015, PPT had a total of seven accidents (none of which
lead to absence fromwork), three nearmisses and 13minor
first-aid treatments carriedout by our in-housemedical
team.With11,150 people employed at PPT by the year
end, this is a remarkable achievement comparedwith any
industrial sector in any country.
The high standards andperformancewere recognised
by aNational Occupational Safety andHealth award from
theThaiMinistry of Labour.
