PANDORA Annual Report 2014 - page 36

GOVERNANCEANDMANAGEMENT• 31
At PANDORA, waste is seen as a resource. In 2014, 81%
of thewaste produced by our crafting facilities inThailand
was reused or recycled, an increase of 24% compared
with 2013. Our wastemanagement procedures were
improvedwith the help of recycling experts fromMahidol
University inThailand.
The crafting of our jewellery generates threemain
types of process waste: gypsum, glass and rubber. The
gypsum derives from the jewellery casting process, the
glass frommaking ourMurano charms and the rubber
from jewellerymoulds. Today, 90% of our gypsumwaste is
recycled in the construction sector, 100% of ourMurano
glass waste is recycled for producing glass tiles and 100%
of our rubber waste is used as fuel by the cement industry.
It is a great pleasure to see our waste being
transformed into something useful. The benefits are
twofold as we optimise theworld’s resources and also
reduce our ownwaste.
