The stone-settingmethod calledpavé (French for ‘paved’) involves
considerable skill. Small stones aremounted into a piece of jewellerywith
multiple tapered holes and set almost level with the surface. The stones
are placed close together to fill asmuch of the surface as possible,making
the piece look like it has beenpavedwith stones.
